SPIRITS OF THE SKY
The work in my new collection Spirits of the Sky is a further study of birds and their flight but with particular reference to the sky, air currents and changing light in different locations. Many pieces derive from time spent at an artists retreat 'Cill Rialaig' in County Kerry, Ireland, a rocky, heather covered peninsular which juts out into the Atlantic sea, where sky and sea meet. The work was greatly influenced by seeing the Turner watercolours at The National Gallery of Ireland.
Painted and silk-screen printed onto cotton calico with pigments and dyes. Collaged with japanese paper and stitch.
